Building Regulations

When planning a project it is wise to consider the implications of the Building Regulations at an early stage to ensure the project can progress without delay or redesign. Areas that commonly arise are as follows:

  1. Means of escape for Internal (open plan) layouts
  2. Egress windows, size and height of opening above finished floor level
  3. Excess amount of glazing for thermal heat loss
  4. Use of suitable materials (pantiles, Thatch, Timber cladding adjacent boundaries etc)
  5. Unprotected areas adjacent boundaries (windows/doors etc)
  6. Fire brigade access (narrow access routes, lack of turning provision etc
  7. Location of private drainage systems (septic tank/field drains)

The Building Control Team at NNDC will be happy to provide pre application advise when you are designing your project. To contact the team 01263 516345 or building.control@north-norfolk.gov.uk
